From one filmmaker to another...

What we love about Screen Culture is getting a chance of creating a network for independent filmmakers where they can share ideas and inspiration. Here's the point of view of Behrooz Abbasi, the creator of "We know our worth" shortfilm and one of the submitters of SCFF 4th edition, about the winner of Best "Experimental Film" category...

In the audacious film (Sleep Talking) which rightly won the award for Best Experimental Film at the Screen Culture Film Festival, the director had properly used other arts to achieve her intended concept.

​

In this experimental work, the audience is immersed in the world of dance, oriental design and modeling.

All this along with the brilliant acting performances gives a deep meaning to it; all this makes sense and the fascinating idea of the film as well.

​

Spectator presence in a young girl’s strange and fusion dream has created an exact and clear atmosphere for a better understanding.

Although, daughter’s dreamy world has amazing and beautiful scenes.

 

There are in-depth and precise philosophical references to the eastern religions. Drawing the curtains, over and over...

At the end, we are confronted with a mythical and omniscient old man who seems to have control over everything.

​

I am delighted to watch this film, I am also looking forward to watching more works of this artist.
