Rules & Submissions
Films submitted to Screen Culture International Film Festival must comply with the following:
- All films must not infringe copyright, as well as all the rights for the footage, music, etc. Any breach of this will result in disqualification of the film and any penalties for misused rights will fall on the filmmakers/submitter and not on any of the festival employees or volunteers.
- All films must be original, and sent in the correct format and labelled clearly in order to be accepted into the festival.
When you submit your film(s) you are agreeing that:
- You give us permissions to use footage, posters and names from your film for promotional material, such as trailers, social media, etc.
- All films must include English subtitles if they are not in English.
- English subtitles are also recommended in English language films.
- If your film is selected for the official finalists screening, you must keep this information confidential until Screen Culture International Film Festival publishes official selections.
- Films must be submitted only through FilmFreeway.
- Student submissions: Your film was made whilst you were or are a student. Please be prepared to send confirmation of this, or submit the film with a student ID.
- We currently do not accept fully AI generated projects.
If your film is selected then you will be asked to:
- Send us your film in a digital format. (Quicktime) ProRes 422 or higher is a preferred exhibition format that works well and we accept other formats too. If you have any questions about this matter feel free to contact us.
- Use MP4 or MOV containers.
- Submit your film via FilmFreeway ONLY in order to be considered by our judges.
- Prepare a short video intro (under 1 minute) to introduce your film for the live stream event. This is optional but strongly recommended.
We reserve the right to use images and screenshots from selected films for marketing purposes and social media. Note that we also publish winners and official selections on our YouTube channel unless submitters don't agree.
By agreeing to these terms & conditions, you agree that you have read, understood and are bound to the regulations of Screen Culture International Film Festival and that, to the best of your knowledge, the information that you have supplied is correct.
